For anyone who thinks we really have nothing to worry about

Lara Riscol, who I've never heard of, has written a soon to be released book titled "Taking Sides: Clashing Views In Human Sexuality. In a nutshell, it describes the split between our uptight moral, public majority and the realistic activities and desires of the masses. Nothing all to new there, or surprising for that matter.

What I found truly appalling are some references to ultra conservative groups in the book excerpt linked in this posts title:

The head of the “Biblically based” policy group Concerned Women for America says that proponents of sexual health education are financially motivated to encourage kids having sexually transmitted diseases and abortions. A Morality in Media press release, “Connecting the Dots: The Link Between Gay Marriage and Mass Murders,” links secular values, the sexual revolution and the decline in morality to the gay rights movement, all sexual ills, including rape and the sexual abuse of children, and naturally a recent spate of mass murders.

For anyone interested, here is a link to purchase the book:

Recession is over ??

When it trickles down to our level, where we don't have to fret over every nickle we spend, then I'll believe it.

What if a bunch of fags could talk to god?

I found this neat post at: http://www.breaktheillusion.com/

If you could ask g*d 1 question, what would it be. And there were tons of responses. A lot of them dealt with why there is so much pain and suffering. Is he even there and why s/he isn't more visible.

You could tell from some responses that there are some queers with strong belief in GOD. Mostly xtian. Some doubters.

My question is why is faith in an intangible higher power still so necessary to so many. Why belief? And what would the world really look like without it. After centuries without it, where it was taken for granted that it was an ignorant lifestyle from a backward time.

Of course, I have my own ideas as to why faith is important. What hinders humans from moving on. But that's for a later post.

that's not right

MY LIVING WILL

Last night my sister and I were sitting in the den and I said to her, "I never want to live in a vegetative state, dependent on some machine and fluids from a bottle to keep me alive. That would be no quality of life at all, If that ever happens, just pull the plug." So she got up, unplugged the computer, and threw out my wine. She's such a b----.

got this funny in an email from my electronics illiterate friend.

Why Atheist?

An old friend of mine, that I hadn't spoken to for years, asked my why I became an Atheist and I wouldn't tell her.

This offended her, and she pressed me. She comes from a strong Xtian background (the main reason I allowed our contact to wain). I got the impression that she was genuinely currious, and not just trying to re-convert me.

So, why wouldn't I tell her? Because I did not want to succeed in proving my point of view. I did not want to steal her comfort from her, because her faith had seen her through some really hard times.

I hope she understands.

you shouldn't blog when

you are tired. You don't think "straight", :)

And I can be way too heavy. Sometimes I think too much.

Time for a shower and some Uncle Walt!
After some more coffee!

Gay Peter Pan

Copied from link:

Almost all of us, myself included, like looking at the youthful bodies of handsome young men: they are aesthetically beautiful, like living works of art. But what about the beauty of 40-year-old men, 50-year-old men…even 60- and 70-year-old men? Youth is a wonderful thing, but all too often it’s used to sell us things we really don’t need and, if unexamined, can destroy our self-esteem if we don’t fit the picture of Youthful Gay Perfection. There’s nothing wrong with finding young guys attractive, but if it prevents us from hooking up with someone hot, handsome and around our own age – someone who could potentially be a good boyfriend/lover/long term partner – than this Peter Pan side of ourselves is not really our friend, after all. He’s the face of self-sabotage.

I guess I have to begrudgingly admit that there is an element of truth to all the paranoid pedo-haters out there. Taken in the context, of course, that they go WAY overboard!

Uncle Walt

One of the reasons that I enjoyed "Royal Republic", "Inkplume", and unclesyd's stuff is that he is also a fan of Walt Whittman. That stubborn, gay blade of our civil war era. And back when I put aside the Xtian book of lies, Leaves of Grass rose up to replace it.

Now, I don't have it memorized, so you would be disappointed if you tried to swap favorite lines with me. But what I do know is that Uncle Walt found beauty in the everyday, working male; regardless of age or skin color. Some very powerful stuff about one guy worshiping other guys, in addition to nature, and just being alive.

Uncle Walt would definitly find the boy in the previous post worthy of prose! But he loved men of all ages. Respected their form, their person.

Ho Hummm

Kinda slow 'round the blogosphere and at home. Worked all weekend and screwed up my sleep schedule, sort of. Am considering some big changes, man it's time.

I spent the last 9yrs as a live-in caregiver for my friend and his mom. Met them just after coming out, and my divorce a while before that. Then, I was working literally 7 days a week to pay child support, rent and a car payment. So I moved into a tiny room of their house. A couple years after that ended, ran into them shopping and found out his Mom had a really prolonged type of Alzheimer's. She was going to an adult day program so she wouldn't be left alone while he worked, but it was costing him oodles. So I moved back with them, into their new house.

Taking care of her became full time shortly after. Child support worked out that my daughter came to stay in the house with me while she finished high school . . . no more child support. And the house is big enough, that I took in a second disabled adult as foster care. I took care of both the senior adults until they passed away last year. My daughter got married and moved out shortly before that.

But, I've been totally out of circulation all that time. Taking care of everyone else but me! And, now that I am free of obligations, free to get back out there in a real job, the economy tanks! Nobody is hiring for @#$! I've been scraping by, taking in temporary clients, for a few days or a week at a time, while their usual caregivers go on vacation or take a break. It's kept my meager bills paid, but that's it. And I am getting very discouraged, impatient, and just plain cranky.

Joey Logano

Youth Culture

A funny thing happened to me last weekend. I was watching Nascar with my son during a late lunch. There is a new, super cute, young driver named Joey Logano. My son got a kick over my lusting, but I later discovered that this guy is the same age as my son!

I was flabbergasted. This had never happened before, that I was attracted to a guy that my son would call a peer! And I was completely embarrassed. More so than the situation deserved, I discovered. My son could have cared less. He was thoroughly amused at my distress.

But, later, we talked about why older dudes find the young ones more appealing than "folks" their own age. And why younger "peeps" find older folks gross, creepy, or just downright disgusting. And in particular, why I, myself found younger guys more appealing.

A little introspection, now and then is a good thing. A very good thing.

This is embarrassing to post, but you could call me the "40 Year Old" gay virgin. Not to state my exact age, but I am in this decade of my life, and I have never participated in the one act that epitomizes "gay sex" (if you catch what I am pitching here).

And I had to confront my own internalized stereotyping: that all adult gay males are hopeless sluts! Now don't get me wrong, I'm not an idiot. I knew intellectually that this was not the case. But matters of attraction don't stop in the cranium, bounce around, and compute after all. And it doesn't help me that the gay adults in my life tell stories that would put penthouse letters in the category of Children's Lit. !!!!

On a purely Id level, I discovered that I was attracted to younger guys, who I perceived as pure somehow. Innocent of the depravities of my gay male adult acquaintances. Young men who hadn't had time yet to rack up a score card. But most important to my sensibilities, I discovered that I was equating youthful inexperience with a more sensitive, romantic soul. And, I was equating mature gay men with being cold, horny beasts.

Well, I shouldn't have to tell you, that I found this personal incite very enlightening. And, it has obvious parallels to our youth obsessed culture.

A reason to get up in the morning:

Blues

Just about everyone I know today are out of work or barely scraping by. Myself included! Last October, my income was cut in half.
Now I do a dance each month, trying to make it through, just one more week.

Kinda reminds me of growing up in the 70's. Factories were closing all over. Areas of the country were even called "Rust Belts" because closed factories were left to rot. The new HBO series Hung shows some of that in Detroit. My father was one of those factory workers. We had the farm, but his factory job brought home the bacon. Somehow he managed to keep his job through that turbulent time, only to see it all go up when the plant closed just months away from his retirement! Poof! His pension that he slaved all those years for gone.

That was the 90's. This is today.

Small wonder that one of the bright spots to my day are sites like "Royal Republic" and "Telstar"

In today's charged climate, I was interested in what they would have to say on this. Most was as to be expected: watch out for pedo's and don't scare your uptight grandma.

What really disapointed me was the implication that after 4yrs old, it's time to wrap up the baby. There was no mention of nudism as a healthy choice. The underlying message was keep it in the home and only as long as it's cute. But it can't be cute or innocent for long.

J Lang, 2007 album pic

Still cute! He's about 28 yrs old now. Maybe as he ages, he'll come back to his senses.

a talented young man turns to god????

I was mellowing with some blues music and was reminded of Jonny Lang. He was a jr powerhouse at 16. He has played with B.B. King and appeared on the second Blues Bros movie. Just a mature, powerful voice and superb guitarist.

For anyone who follows this stuff, it's old news. His newest album, that I know of, is Xtian!

WTF!!!

So I decided to find out. I found an interview he did on beliefnet where he describes getting hooked on drugs and then having an epiphany after the death of his girlfriends father.

Aye, yi yi. Trading one crutch for another. The second, however, being far more socially accepted.

Get De-Baptized

I was trying to search blogger's rolls. I think that's impossible, actually, so I turned to good old Google to try to see if anyone else using blogger posts Atheist content.

Well, here's a quirky post, on someone else's service btw:

If you really wanna get back at them Xtians, or feel even more free of it than a conscious descision to "unbelieve", you can have yourself "un-baptized"! Or even ex-communicated. As a former catholic, that is a little tempting. Especially in the face of "father-feel-me-up". To bad he would never know.

But could be liberating anyway. I could throw a party!

And now Telstar

For stated personal reasons, Telstar has closed his blog. Eeeek!

Does this mean that I now have to get a life?

sums up how I feel

The Root

Late nights wax me philosophically so wtf, why not.

Is there a elemental, root cause for our fkps as a species?

Buddhist, at least I don't think, don't believe in evil. However, they state that the ROOT of all human suffering is DESIRE. That we want, demand or seek more than we should.

On the other hand, Xtians go even further. According to them, we should not only surrender our desires, but our entire essence as well. They say "die unto yourself" and basically live as a foot or arm attached to the body of JC, devoid of any personal motivation other than to remain attached. Again, it seems, xtians claim the root of evil is being selfish.

So, at humanity's most basic level it fears Independence, free-thought, etc. And, more deeply, people fear desire. And out of that fear, does some pretty fkp stuff that could only make sense in Greek tragedy. They try to suppress, control, and steer it at every turn only to wonder why it doesn't lay down and die. And worse, they wonder at the deformed creature their own oppression helped to create.

Here is a little snippet I often reffer to that points out just how unadvanced humanity is. On the surface, it may not seem to relate to this post, but it sums up a lot.

Physicians, in terms of modern medical practice, have to poison the body to cure cancer. Kind of reminds one of leeches, don't it?

Axed again!!!!!!!!!!

Royal Republic got it again! !@#$@!!!!

I was just there, and joined blogger so I didn't have to comment "annonymous" anymore.
Please, guys if you see this, come back from the dead (yet again).

to link or not

I sometimes wonder if the bashers hiding in the web don't use link lists on sites they hate to attempt to shut them all down? I thought of that before listing blogger sites that I enjoy reading.
